Hookhouse Farm Surrey Wedding Venue
Hookhouse Farm Wedding Venue
First impressions…
Perhaps you’re a couple with a clear vision for your wedding day and you want a blank canvas for your DIY wedding. Or maybe you feel overwhelmed by the prospect of wedding planning and a venue with a wedding package of pre-selected local suppliers would suit you better. Hookhouse Farm warmly welcomes couples looking for either option and does so with rustic and homely charm.
A working farm, in the village of Outwood, Surrey, I was bowled over by Carole who flung the door open when I arrived and greeted me with the warmth of a cup of tea (quite literally!).
Carole, not only makes an excellent cuppa, but pours an abundance of love into weddings at Hookhouse Farm. Her gorgeous handmade information-loaded gingham pockets for potential couples are perhaps one of the cutest things I have ever seen. She has spent years curating her very own Aladdin’s cave with unlimited props for her couples to adorn their weddings with for a small additional charge. My eyes literally bulged as I feasted them on picnic baskets galore, a plethora of vintage crockery and myriad of shepherd sticks.
Ceremony spaces…
The garden is the preferred space for wedding ceremonies with the 17th century barn used for receptions. The weather gods quite clearly favour Hookhouse Farm as Carole assures me that in 11 years, they have only had two weddings utilise the barn due to bad weather…if that’s not a good enough reason to get married at Hookhouse farm, I don’t know what is!
The garden presents an intimate ceremony space, whilst the barn offers a juxtaposing sizable area for a good ole knees up. The barn features original wooden beans, rustic chandeliers (handmade by Carole’s husband, James) and a copious amount of fairly lights – you can never have too many fairy lights. The barn is home to many charming elements, my favourite of which being the metallic lights suspended over the porch area made from chick incubators.
Final thoughts…
Hookhouse Farm really lends itself to celebrant-led weddings, it is a venue suited to couples looking for something more personalised and bespoke. Carole speaks so warmly of her own children’s weddings she has hosted at Hookhouse Farm: an English tea party, a beer festival and a barn dance. It is easy to imagine couples wanting something a little bit different choosing Hookhouse Farm for their wedding, here is a venue where the possibilities are endless.
